Please don't ever pay to access a resource...

In addition to print books, the RRU Library subscribes to hundreds of thousands of ebooks and millions of journal articles on your behalf. We can also help you access materials outside our collections through our interlibrary loan service

You can access journal articles through the RRU Library by using Google Scholar or the Library's Discovery search tool, both of which are located on the library homepage.

Google Scholar

By connecting to Google Scholar @ RRU through the library you'll improve your chances of finding the full text as you will encounter scholarly resources the library subscribes to, that wouldn't otherwise appear by searching Google Scholar directly (and where you might otherwise be encouraged to purchase articles).

The link to Google Scholar @ RRU can be found in under the "Quicklinks" menu on the library homepage.

As an example, a search for the article title, "The bumpy road to exercising leadership" will surface the below-copied result, along with a "Full text @ RRU" link on the right hand side of the screen.

By clicking the Full text @ RRU link you'll be prompted to authenticate with your RRU username and password for access to the article.

Discovery

Likewise, by using Discovery to search for articles, you'll be able to find and access our subscribed content.

For example, a keyword search in Discovery for "Health consumer and health provider preferences for an integrative healthcare service delivery model" (in quotations) will surface the below-copied result, along with a blue "View full text" button.

Click the 'View full text' button, and when prompted, enter your RRU username and password for access (the same username and password you use to access your Moodle courses)!

Lean Library and Interlibrary Loan

You may also want to consider adding our Lean Library browser extension. This tool redirects you to access materials licensed by RRU Library directly through your internet searches, plus, if we don't have the article in our collection you'll be prompted to submit a interlibrary loan request. The advantage here is that the ILL form is prepopulated with the article details, and so should save you some time. You can download it here.

If you come across material during your research you can’t access or is behind a paywall, please don't give up or pay for it! If you'd like to access a book or an article that is not available in the Royal Roads Library collection, we can usually source it for you from another library through our Interlibrary Loans service (free of charge).
