A literature review is a standard section of any thesis, major project, or research article. As the name suggests, a literature review typically summarizes and synthesizes existing literature on a topic. In the context of your own work, a literature review can allow you to identify a research gap that you can study through the lens of your research question, increase your breadth of knowledge on that topic, and put your work in perspective as you contextualize the work already done in the field. See RRU Writing Centre's Types of academic writing guide for more information and resources on writing a literature review.

While the RRU Librarians can help you access literature for your literature review, we are not experts in writing the literature review. For writing help, please book an appointment with RRU's Writing Centre or ask them a question via the WriteAnswers system. For help getting started with your search for literature, please visit the Library's Getting Started With Research guide
